Prince William and Kate Middleton are headed to Pakistan

Kensington Palace announced the news via social media (what a time to be alive!)
Updated 30 Jun, 2019

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are packing their bags to head to Pakistan!

Kensington Palace announced via social media (what a time to be alive!) that Prince William and Kate Middleton "will undertake an official visit to Pakistan this autumn, at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office".

Further details will be advised in due course, they added.

This mark's the couple first visit to our country though other members of the royal family have been here before; on their Instagram, they continued that "Her Majesty The Queen visited Pakistan in 1961 and 1997, and The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visited in 2006.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner in London welcomed the announcement.

“The upcoming Royal Visit is a reflection of the importance the United Kingdom attaches to its relations with Pakistan. The two countries enjoy historical links which both sides wish to strengthen further,” said Mohammad Nafees Zakaria.

Diana, Princess of Wales, also made the journey to Pakistan several times.

In case you were wondering, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be joining; the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed on their joint Instagram account that they will be on their Africa trip this Autumn.

The Royal families of many countries including Britain regularly visit India but that is no big news here. They do get some mention in the media about their visit and meeting as a matter of courtesy. Price Charles is a regular private visitor and mingles with local tiffin carriers He even invited them for his wedding.

Credit goes to PM Imran Khan for enhancing Pakistan's image through different means and, this why foreign dignitaries are planning to visit Pakistan. This is a good sign to restoring lost image and inviting foreign investments in the country that no previous government focused upon except increasing their personal assets through black activities.

@Saad "Why does a couple with no real power matter?" Ignorant comment. Everything is not all about 'power'; there are many situations, people to people interaction, optics, culture, charity and many more. Tourism in the UK linked to royal residences such as Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle adds up to 2.7 million visitors a year. It is estimated that the monarchy contributes nearly £2 billion to the UK economy each year.
