The cricketer took to Youtube to clear the air regarding rumours that he was in love with the actress

In some random and bizarre news, former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has taken to his Youtube channel to clear the air about some rumours flying around about him and Bollywood actress, Sonali Bendre.

The actor recorded a lengthy video slamming what he calls baseless rumours that reported how he was allegedly 'in love' with Bendre, would carry a photo of her around in her wallet and even planned on kidnapping her.

Clearing the air, he said, "I haven't ever even met Sonali Bendre and at the same time, I was never a fan. I've seen her in movies and she's a beautiful woman but I've never been a diehard fan. When I heard she was unwell (Bendre was diagnosed with cancer last year) and she courageously fought her disease, that’s when I became a fan. Previously, there were also rumours about me wanting to marry Dia Mirza — I’ve never met her either!"

He also spoke in support of Sania Mirza who was trolled for a widely circulating video of members of the Pakistani team sitting at a sheesha bar, which some claimed to be hours before the India versus Pakistan match while the PCB said it was two nights ago. Irrespective, people's grievances were that the team took the match lightly and were ill-prepared for it and Mirza was blamed for it because apparently, women are accountable for everything.

"She gets criticism for no reason. If she went out for dinner with her husband, how is that a crime? When she married Shoaib Malik, she got hate then and now that Pakistan lost, somehow she's getting criticism for that. What does their performance have to do with her? These stupid comments and stupid mentality are really hurtful, please refrain from talking about other people's families," he added.

If I remember correctly, it was Shahid Aridi who was deeply linked with Bendre. Even Moin Akhtar once jokingly called him "Shahid Bendre", in a stage show, before correcting himself quickly.

I like Shoaib. He has a very sweet voice and good choice (songs of Kishore Kr). Advice : Keep her photo if you like her, I have kept Mahira's photo.

Male female attraction is natural and not limited with border/territory, sect, religion. For years I liked ashwariya because of her beauty not because of bollywood/india. If had a choice she was my first choice to love and as a pakistani last choice to love. Remember love is blind. So shoaib, there is no issue even if u have 12 pics of Donald And bhaartey can also have 12 pics of mahira too.

On his 2007 cricket series tour of India, I saw Shoaib Akhtar state in a live TV interview in India that he likes or loves or is very interested in Sonali Bendre and would love to meet her. Nothing wrong with that though and Shoaib Akhtar is a great player, a very decent human being and a great ambassador for Pakistan.

@M. Saeed lol yes and isn't it ironic that the same Afridi today has adopted such a conservative view of women that he won't let his daughters take part in sports etc. Mind-boggling.

When ever you miss Mahira, you can google her pic on the smart phone. That'll save you and Shoaib some space inside the wallet :)

Stalking celebrities is the worst kind should have kept quite and let Shahid afridi do the talking. Also Sania Mirza is getting blamed not for Pakistans performance but for taking her husband out the night before with other pakistani cricketers before the crucial match...wife in marriages are very influential maybe she even threatened him with a divorce. Is this a new way of earning money without spot fixing get players to break curfew so they are tired and under perform?

Actually there is a problem if Malik is being paid for his services to Pakistan cricket but is out at night 1-2 days before the biggest match of the World Cup in a shipshape bar with\out his wife. If he was a true professional he would be totally focussed mentally and physically on his fitness to deliver, as should the whole team.

@Laila I am also amazed to repeatedly experience this totally contradictory behavior in Pakistani men. Maybe, they know from their own experience how they had relations with women which the conservative society does not approve. Now they suddenly want to be conservative as they are old. Pathetic

I criticise sarfraz of technicality. Imran Khan apart from being prime minister has played cricket for nearly 20 years. He was best captain and fast bowler of his time. He was only who never lost a test series against any nation including India. He was only captain of Pakistan who won a world cup for pakistan. Now to ignore his advice is pure stupidity and I think that he should be removed immediately from team. Dr. Qureshi

This guy does not know how to responds to questions , second half of his answer was good. There was no need to clarify, he answered ,that he is sonali fan now ,because she show courage to other ,and inspires other who are fighting serious illness , that was a vey elegant answer,there was not give explanations , that was cringe worthy !
