Hasan Minhaj takes a dig at Narendra Modi and Indian politics in his latest sketch

"You may not agree with his politics but the man [Modi] knows a good photo op!" said the comedian on his Netflix show
Updated 03 Jun, 2019

We're really starting to get used to our weekly dose of Hasan Minhaj.

The comedian's weekly series, Patriot Act releases a new episode every week "exploring the modern cultural and political landscape with depth and sincerity.”

This week, Minhaj is talking about the Indian Lok Sabha elections again; his earlier episode about the same topic made him a target for trolls on social media: "I can't go online without desi trolls telling me I ruined democracy," he shared. But Hasan ain't backing down.

The Indian-origin comic took digs at the BJP's landslide victory, their questionable candidates (including a former soap opera star, an Islamophobic hate-monger and a MPA who has 34 criminal cases registered against him) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.

"Look, you may not agree with his politics but the man [Modi] knows a good photo op!"

He also poked fun at Congress and their disastrous run; the party's president, Rahul Gandhi didn't even win a seat in Amethi, a constituency his family has held for decades.

The joke he made about Modi was the same that 220 million Pakistanis made when they first saw that photo.

Mr Minhaj, I am afraid you have quite shallow knowledge of contemporary Indian politics. Please stick to what you are good at.

The guy also has an episode on the ICC World Cup where he seems to suggest that India's success in cricket is due to BCCI's hegemony in the ICC. I love it when 2nd or 3rd generation Indian Americans take it upon themselves to "explain" India to Americans, with the combined experience of 3, maybe 4 trips to Chacha and Chachi's house when they were 11 and 14. He's funny, once in a while...tries too hard in my opinion, and is playing a lot on his "India connection"...falling ratings will bring him back to Trump jokes soon.

Who says Modi has failed to generate employment? Forget India Modi has been successful to generate employment for overseas Indians as well - Mr. Minhaz making good bucks, thanks to Modi. No wonder why they love him so much!!

@Aks Yes we know, like how Turks love Erdogan and Americans love Trump. Majority of the not so well read people around the world love divisive leaders, because all they can understand is communal sloganeering. Congratulations anyway.
