Kareena Kapoor talks equal pay after being crowned the highest paid TV actress
Kareena Kapoor Khan has forayed into television, if you hadn't already heard and she's making a strong case for equal pay.
The star will now be appearing as a judge on reality show Dance India Dance alongside choreographer Bosco Martis and rapper Raftaar. And reportedly, her pay package for the small screen debut has crowed her the highest paid female TV star.
"The pay package has to be a good amount because you put in a lot of hard work on TV. If a male judge is getting so much, a female judge can too," voiced the 38-year-old.
"It is the first time ever that any mainstream actress has forayed into TV, a dance reality show, at this point in her career. I've got what I completely deserve and for the hours that I put in." Trust Kareena to say it like it is.
The Veere Di Wedding star has only moved upward in her career since the birth of her son Taimur and she says motherhood is still her first priority.
"TV has very long hours, 12-14, and I don't work more than 8 hours after Taimur's birth," she said during the interview.
"I'm a working mother and I have to be home with him. I like to be at home before he eats his dinner. That's the time I don't want to be with anyone other than him and my family."
She admitted that the balancing act was quite difficult. "That was the only hurdle we had to cross with Dance India Dance because they had to shoot for 12 hours. We are balancing it out. It's an exciting time for me to balance my personal life. I've always tried to do that. I'm known for standing on one leg so I'm going to continue to do that."
Kareena Kapoor will also be seen on the silver screen in Karan Johar's Takht and Irfan Khan starrer Angrezi Medium. Her reality TV show will premiere on June 22.
