One of the charms of the upcoming Sonam and Anil Kapoor-starrer is to see how they'd reimagine the iconic track 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga' from 1942: A Love Story.

We expected that the film would pay tribute to the song, given that the new film's title and its cast is borrowed from it. And sure enough, as the title song releases, we see the chorus from RD Burman-composed and Javed Akhtar-written original being used in the just-released title track. Listen to it here:

There's no comparing it to the original, of course, but we'd be lying if we didn't get the feels when the chorus came on!

The two-minute video focuses on Sweety (Sonam Kapoor) and her suitor Sahil Mirza's (Rajkumar Rao)'s growing friendship even though the trailer tells us that he knows her big secret (that is, she might like women!). The song's video reminds us of this, while also showing that Sweety's dad himself (Anil Kapoor) may also find love in this dramatic family movie.

The title track has been written by Gurpreet Saini (who's previously penned a song for Wazir), composed by Rochak Kohli (Cheat India, Badhaai Ho, Batti Gul Meter Chalu) and sung by Darshan Raval (of 'Kheench Meri Photo' fame).

Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga will release on February 1.
