Meera's upcoming film Baji already boasts a stellar cast and now they've added another name to the roster.

Ali Saleem has been roped in for a "special appearance" in the film by director Saqib Malik.

Speaking to Images, Saleem revealed that he was "Approached by Saqib Malik many months ago for this character and I was completely overwhelmed when Saqib approached me for it because I’m a huge fan of his work and I think he’s a phenomenal director."

He added about his role in Baji, "Saqib told me that it’s a cameo, it’s a special appearance and the sequence that I’m shooting for the movie is pivotal for the story, it was actually going to be the turning point of the film. So I of course said yes."

Baji features Meera and Osman Khalid Butt in the lead and this is the first time Saleem will perform with the two.

"We shot my portion of the film in Karachi. My interaction on screen was with Meera and Osman Khalid Butt. Meera is a dear old friend and this is the first time I’m sharing a screen space with her on the big screen, so that in itself was a huge attraction for me."

For Saleem this is a major project as not only will he be performing with Meera but he has been waiting for an opportunity to work with director Saqib Malik, with whom he was suppose to partner up with before.

"I was going to play a big part in Saqib’s first film that he had planned to make; Ajnabi sher mein, which was written by Sarmad Khoosat and which going to star Shan, but unfortunately that film got shelved and hasn't been brought up since. I was very disappointed as I always wanted to work with Saqib, so when he approached me for this I was excited and immediately on board."

According to Saleem, "It was an eventful shoot both on a personal level and professional level. A lot of hard work went into it, from everybody. And despite the odds we rose to the occasion and to the challenge and we made sure that the work must go on, and the show must go on as they say."

Baji does not have an official release date as of yet but Saleem predicts that, "Baaji is going to be the biggest film of 2019."
