Ali Sethi is all set to perform next spring in New York’s famous Carnegie Hall.

Commissioned by the American Composers Orchestra and written by the Pulitzer-Prize winning composer Du Yun, the concerto ‘Where We Lost Our Shadows’ explores themes of migration and memory through music.

Sethi has trained for years with classical maestros Naseeruddin Saami and Farida Khanum. As a soloist on the piece, he will bring his understanding of traditional raags to this performance.

Speaking about the project, he said, “This is a powerful work that speaks to our moment in vital ways. It allows me to represent my culture in a global context. I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”

Carnegie Hall is the world’s most prestigious concert space, reputed to have the best acoustics for musical performance. It was memorialised most recently in the Meryl Streep movie, Florence Foster Jenkins.

@RIAZ ULLAH BAIG , No he is not Najam Seth's son if you are so ignorant you should have Googled him first. I think he is one of the best singing sensations around nowadays. Picking him up from the whole of Pakistan to perform at the World most prestigious hall in New York where best of the best only wish to perform one day says plenty. Have some respect for him and to know him to watch some of his masterpieces at Coke studio to start with.
