Bollywood may not have a lot of roles for Abhishek Bachchan but are thinking looking up for him in the digital space?

The Manmarziyaan actor is confirmed to star as the lead character in the second season of Amazon series Breathe, which is the second Indian original after cricket drama Inside Edge, which streamed worldwide last July.

While the premise of season 2 has yet to be revealed, the drama puts the spotlight on ordinary men faced with extraordinary circumstances. In the first season of Breathe, we saw a father (South Indian actor R. Madhavan) desperately try to save his son from succumbing to a deadly lung disease.

Breathe will continue to be directed by Mayank Sharma, who will also serve as the show's writer — along with Bhavani Iyer, Vikram Tuli and Arshad Syed. A release date has not yet been revealed.

"While I am very excited to enter the world of digital content, it is important that, creatively, the material must excite me as much or more," Bachchan told The Hollywood Reporter, adding that the show's storyline greatly appealed to him.

Breathe is being directed by Mayank Sharma, who also serves as the show's writer — along with Bhavani Iyer, Vikram Tuli and Arshad Syed. A release date has not yet been revealed.
