The much-awaited DeepVeer wedding has taken place!

According to Indian media reports (and Karan Johar's tweet), Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have finally gotten married. Only the couple's closest friends and family are attending the events in Italy.

The couple released photos of their wedding looks on Thursday evening:

The wedding, located at the Villa del Balbianello resort in Lake Como, Italy, took place according to Deepika's South Indian customs on Wednesday. The couple wanted the wedding to be phone-free... which is why photos of the events were hard to come by.

Filmfare shared the first photos released later in the day:

A second Sindhi-style wedding took place on Thursday to honour Ranveer's roots, for which the Ram-Leela star arrived on a boat.

Security measures at the wedding locations are said to be top-notch, with drone interceptors in the sky and guests being made to wear special wrist bands and scan unique QR codes on their phones to gain entry, according to Hindustan Times.

The Ram-Leela stars haven't skimped on location either, booking 75 rooms at the exclusive Villa del Balbianello that is estimated to rack up a bill of INR1,73,25,000 for the week!

Deepika and Ranveer are expected to return to India on November 18, where they will first have a reception in Bangalore on November 21 and another for their Bollywood colleagues in Mumbai in November 28.

Why do these guys have to jet to Europe to get married? Isn't home good enough for them?

@helping hands ...They have time and money to spend. When they can do it why not? Let them do what they want to, don't impose your views on them.

@helping hands They want to avoid papparazzi and commotion, that will be jumping and screaming on rooftops and gates to cover their wedding. Creating nuiscance, blockage and nightmare for them. For once they want to focus on themselves away from media glare.

@helping hands Its called destination wedding. World trend. Celebs prefer to keep their wedding low key and private. Homeground makes that impossible as thousands of media channels wil mushroom outside groom’s and bride’s home to catch glimse of their wedding and sell as breaking news. Celebs prefer to avoid all the screaming match, crowds and media mobs. Destination wedding helps them achieve that goal and focus on their wedding ceremonies in peace.

@helping hands They may want the wedding to be a small and private affair which would be impossible to manage i India. They are holding a reception in Bangalore and Mumbai. It was same for ANushka and Kohli who wed in Italy and had a reception in Delhi and Mumbai.

So they are celebrating their wedding outside their home because of Indian media, speaks volumes of how irrational and mad media houses in India are.

ideally they should donate this money to so many poor children in 3rd world countries. busting 4 - 5 mil $ on a wedding is being very selfish

Whole india is crazy about her beauty. What is so beautifull with her? She is so basic and even when she is walking here on streets in Amsterdam people wouldn't even notice her.

@Rishabh Will you donate your salary to poors? They have every right to spend their income as the want to in legal way. It's governments' job to collect taxes from rich people and use that money on creating policies to help poors. Instead of giving fish, teaching how to catch fish is useful. And that is mainly government' job.

@Rishabh pls also understand.. The money ultimately is also going to ppl who may need it more..the guy who is selling flowers, catering photography, the housekeeping staff working in hotel .. ends up giving employment to so many more..yes..if that money would be been spent locally.. It would be been passed on to Indians but it's their choice.. If rich don't spend..how will middle class grow and of middle class doesn't grow.. How will poors lives become better

@Raja Idrees It is not just about beauty (though majority of people acknowledge her as being beautiful) but also about talent. She is a fabulous actress and her movies make a lot of money worldwide You have every right to say you dont find her beautiful but others have right to find her beautiful In addition, Ranveer too is not traditionally good looking who cares they are a popular power couple and we wish them well
