Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza welcome a baby boy

Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza have welcomed their first child together.

The sports couple have had a boy, revealed Malik on Twitter:

The former Pakistani cricket captain informed fans that new mom Sania "is doing great and keeping strong as usual".

While he said he was simply "humbled", his manager Ameem ul Haq described his state as "over the moon":

Shoaib and Sania have announced that they're naming their son Izhaan.

The couple had already announced that his surname will be Mirza-Malik. Speaking at the Goa Fest 2018, Sania had shared: "I have not changed my surname (post marriage) and my name is still Sania Mirza and it will remain that way. The family name is going to go forward.".

The couple have been married for eight years.

Since Malik's announcement, congratulatory messages from their well-wishers soon started flooding social media:

We wish the best to Sania and Shoaib in this exciting new chapter of life.

Nationality of the baby boy. Pakistani or Indian? Pakistan has a dual nationality but India doesn't have dual nationality system.

@Abhi "He is gonna be Indian Citizen" Shoaib clarified in one of his interviews last month that the kid will be a citizen of a 3rd country.
