Maira Khan tells us what to expect from TV drama Cheekh
Saba Qamar is staying mum about her next project Cheekh... but her co-stars have dished on the drama serial!
Maira Khan, who also stars in the serial, shared with Images that the drama is based on a domestic set-up — "it's the story of a susraal, two sisters-in-law, their husbands and their younger brother, who is the evillest of them all."
"An 'incident' takes place and the drama shows how the family copes with it... Cheekh is based on social issues that surround us and how to speak up against [damaging] social norms."
Maira, who plays "the very positive but introverted" sister-in-law, shares that the men are highly negative characters in the family, adding that her husband blames her for them not having a child. "Eventually, my character learns to speak up for herself," she says.
So far, Cheekh sounds like standard fare to us. But we've been promised some "out of the box" content and guess we'll have to wait to discover what social taboo the drama hopes to challenge.
Cheekh is being produced by Fahad Mustafa and Dr Ali Kazmi under the banner Big Bang Productions and will be directed by Badar Mehmood. It will air on ARY Digital.
