Samiya Mumtaz will be on a journey of self-discovery in upcoming telefilm Move On: A New Year's Resolution.

The actor is set to play 'celebrity wife' Nadia, whose philandering superstar husband (Aijaz Aslam) doesn't appreciate her. She initially tries to better herself to win her husband's love and loyalty but the telefilm will ask if that's all her life should be about.

Aijaz Aslam shares that his character will be "too engrossed in his glamorous life to think about his family until his daughter makes him realise his mistake."

From the title of the telefilm, we're expecting Samia to rise up and realise her actual self-worth. And if that's the case, we're definitely interested.

The cast will also include Umair Hameed Khan, Asma Siraj and Sabiha Hashmi.

Speaking to Images, Samiya revealed that she was on board after reading the script for the film, which has been written by director Awais Sulaman along with Ajit Navraj Hans.

"When I spoke to Awais about the script, he told me he wanted to be very innovative with his idea and I liked what he had in mind."

Awais Sulaman, a New York Film Academy graduate, will be marking his directorial debut with Move On.

"I wanted to work with him because he's a first time director," said Mumtaz. "It was wonderful working with him, he's very flexible with his ideas which is great because you can then own your character rather than follow orders blindly."

Aijaz Aslam added, "It's been a nice experience, I can see him learning as well as bring out everything he's learned from NYFA and is trying to bring out the best of this project."

So far Move On: A New Year's Resolution does not have a release date but it's expected to hit the small screen in December.
