A female officer of the Airport Security Force (ASF) has been penalised after a video of her lip-syncing to a Bollywood track went viral.

The officer, stationed at the Sialkot airport, has lost two year's worth of increments and perks as a penalty for violating the ASF code of conduct that prohibits its employees from using social media.

People on Twitter believe the officer's punishment is too harsh:

Some say what their employees do in their private lives is none of ASF's business:

While some think the penalty is justified because the officer was wearing an ASF cap and was thus 'in uniform'...

Others think the code of conduct needs an update:

This man thinks ASF has bigger problems to address:

Others see a bias against women in this penalty:

Images has reached out to the ASF for further comment.

Penalizing is not a solution. She should be terminated from service, as her act and conduct was not consistent with the Civil Servants.

Why are some people claiming she is in uniform? Do female ASF officers have sleeveless uniform? How pathetic!

ASF did nothing wrong. ASF is her employer and I’m sure when she got the job she had signed punch of paperwork including ASF code of of conduct.

Of course her employer can reprimand her. She has, according to them, brought the organisation into disrepute. Obviously no law has been broken but she is in breach of contract with her employer. I operated similar social media policies when I ran a medium sized operation in the UK.

What is the issue since she was not doing it while on duty??? In case the lady has interest in music or acting then that is her right and her personal choice . In case she has a good talent then lets hope she gets a chance with some good TV show as well..

She is independent to do what so ever her freedom of expression allows her in an eastern society with the latest mode of equipment available for the social media at hand. She is a human and her job is only economic support to her livings. Her job has nothing to interfere in her personal activities of her private life. She is energetic and has used the media to express her opinion, not a crime in 21 century of media games.

As an employee of the ASF, she has every right to challenge this arbitrarily taken decision. Under E&D rules, all employees are to be proceeded against in case of misconduct defined therein as per set procedure. The question remains to be answered that is the procedure is followed or not? Even this is not the end of world, she has other options to go into appeal against the decision to the appellate board within ASF and failing to find relief go to court. All this emotional hue and cry by all not conversant with rules of conduct of a supposedly security agency of the country, being unsubstantiated and unfortunate should be avoided. For sure this publicity would be an irritant to those involved in her appeal etc. who would have taken a softer view of the incident and prove to be totally unhelpful in her case in the long run.

Did you see the indian Pak soldiers dancing to indian tunes in Russia. A blanket ban on social media is uncalled for. What people do during their free time is not ASFs business. An to say she was is uniform is absurd too . So what ASF women has started wearing sleeveless dress or what. A young girl who wanted some fun posted a video and the patriarchal top brass made her an example. Every one in force uses social media its just that they don't post it so often.

The penalty is a bit to harsh for this. Nobody died or got affected by her singing. Perhaps a warning would have been sufficient. We are becoming too intolerant of too many things.

Alot of people are missing the point. Her job contract or any ASF employee's for that matter states they CANNOT USE SOCIAL MEDIA etc etc ........ when she was hired, she signed that contract and agreed to abide by it. If she thought it was unjustified in any way, she could have refused to sign it.

If it accounts for a breach of conduct in regards to the ASF code. Then ASF is with in its rights to penalise this lady. All the security forces generally have very strict policies when it comes to social media. However this should not have made headlined.

A symbolic six month penalty would have been enough to discourage her and others without hurting her. While such prohibition is understandable, leniency with reprimand would have been sufficient for this youthful enthusiasm based error. Note the flag on her head gear, she is patriotic sending a soft image.

What she does in her private life should be none of their concern. She did not discuss work nor did she reveal anything to jeopardize airport security. Even if she wishes to be a pole dancer, that should be her choice. An inhumane country with no freedoms, in speech, religion or otherwise.

When punishing young people for offenses that haven't harmed anyone else, please don't go to the extent that you destroy their future. Punishment must be to teach them to be better and reach their full potential. A punishment that destroys a person's future and path to be better is cruel.

@Jalbani Baloch. But the penalty is exactly according to the army act 1952. There is a way things are done, you don't fire someone just because they violated a certain code of conduct. You should get educated in those areas of management and discipline.

This is ok. Because she was using her official service uniform and identity in the video to dance to. People who are complaining probably have not served in armed forces. You are bound by certain regulatory issues. Same thing happened in Russian armed forces with their BSF forces (women) shown wearing their uniform and partying. They were charge sheeted as well.
