Farhan Saeed calls out celebs for flying out from Pakistan before the elections

Please let’s not take our country’s future for granted, he tweets
24 Jul, 2018

Farhan Saeed has a message for all fellow Pakistani citizens — celebrities or otherwise — who have chosen to fly out of the country ahead of the general elections tomorrow.

The singer/actor tweeted to say that he is heartbroken that Pakistan's future is being taken for granted:

While he takes no names in his tweet, Farhan is likely to be alluding to the host of celebrities who have flown out for the rehearsals of Hum Awards, which is taking place in Toronto this Saturday.

Several people on Twitter have certainly made that connection:

Whether it was logistical constraints or just a case of bad timing that compelled celebs to fly before the elections, their absence from Pakistan on voting day will make us think twice about the integrity of their passionate social media statements about civic responsibilities in the future.

Do people really think that these 'celebrities' care about the well-being of the masses? They are the privileged class and cannot care less about the issues facing Pakistan's population. Still the people worship them as deities.

This is incredibly selfish and irresponsible. As celebrities they carry a bigger responsibility as citizens as people follow them. This is not the time to be apolitical. By showing such indifference you loosed the credibility to front any message or cause!

History shows that borders of a country last only as long as the citizens want them to last. not because the founding fathers say that 'it's here to stay'. Don't take your country for granted.

These so-called celebs try to act relevant by sending out useless tweets to show their involvement and commitment to the society but choose to leave at a moment like this. Well done. And who even watches hum awards?

@JA National responsibility? Please? Look at the state of the nation and its people. There isn't a candidate thats worthy of voting for. In that scenario, people will choose not to vote. Why should they not go and rehearse the Hum Awards in Canada? They are looking out for themselves. You should do the same.

It is the job of ECP for faciliate Pakistanis world wide to cast their votes. Hound the ECP instead of targeting celebs. I take back my earlier comments. Overseas Pakistanis should NOT have to buy expensive tickets to vote. ECP is at fault!

@UJ I think you are talking about BW artists! Pak artists are self made at many level! They do not have the big sponsors supporting them! Most invest their hard earned money to pay for their projects and creates jobs for others! They are very good citizens of Pakistan ,because they give it back to pak on so many levels ! Trolls are not cool!
