Women can coexist, it's not about survival of the fittest, says Janhvi Kapoor

With her Bollywood debut film Dhadak out, Janhvi Kapoor is puzzled as to why she is always asked about being in competition with other female stars her age.

In a recent interview, Sridevi's daughter said, "Over the course of this past month, I’ve been asked about competition a lot. I find it odd because Ishaan (her Dhadak co-star) hasn’t been asked about it. And I think that’s because I’m a girl."

She feels it's usually women who are questioned about fellow female actors and that needs to end.

"It’s sad that sometimes we make it about how only one of the girls can be successful -- we are very capable of being happy for each other. I think it’s not a nice thing to put on the young girls in our society. I don’t think it’s survival of the fittest kind of situation. Coexisting is natural and it should be encouraged among young girls..."

The 21-year-old is "really excited to see so many new faces, so much new talent."

"I’ve had the pleasure to know Sara. I think she’s stunning, she is full of so much life and energy. I’m so much excited to see what she’ll bring. So I know she’s going to kill it," she added.

Dhadak hit screens today.

It's always about the survival of the fittest.

@Bill Maybe eventually it is... but that’s not the point she’s trying to make here..! Pitting girls against each other & “creating” non-existent competition is not necessary! It’s like how parents, compare their kids with other’s kids, when kids just want to be kids & have fun! There’s something for everyone on this planet & like she said we can co-exist!
