Coca Cola, through its #BottleOfChange campaign, ran Pakistan's first ever digital donation drive with a ton of Pakistani celebs on their official facebook page yesterday. Almost 300,000 people watched the live transmission.
Hosting the show, Ali Rehman Khan and Momina Mustehsan took live calls and SMSes from people all over the world intending to support the Edhi Foundation.
Here is what happened at the event:
1. Pledges worth over Rs13 million were received at the Digithon
Some of Pakistan's most celebrated celebs, as part of a live digital donation drive, managed to earn pledges summing up to a whopping Rs13 million from all around the world.
Momina Mustehsan herself pledged to donate Rs1million, setting the precedent for everyone to join hands and donate. She reminds us that by coming forward to support such causes we encourage everyone around us to do the same.
2. Younis Khan auctioned his cricket bat for Rs100,000
Younus Khan, along with Ahad Raza Mir, Momina Mustehsan, Ali Rehman Khan and Maya Ali, auctioned his bat for a staggering Rs100,000.
Reacting to the whopping high number of donation pledges received, Yunus Khan said, "If we are donating today it is for no one but ourselves."
Speaking of the donation drive, Bilquis Edhi said, "I would like to thank Coca-Cola for helping us take our mission forward and for remembering us. It is not easy to run an initiative as big as ours, we need a lot of funds to sustain the work that we do. I would also like to thank everyone who donated [through the digithon] to further our cause."
Being Pakistan's first ever digital donation drive, the event managed to pull it all off successfully leaving traces of a million ideas for us all to help those in need, all year round.
