Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna served legal notice over Rustom uniform auction

Akshay Kumar put his navy officer uniform from 'Rustom' up for auction and now he’s facing a legal notice for it
09 May, 2018

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna have been served a legal notice by the armed forces personnel for auctioning the navy officer uniform from Rustom.

A letter directed to the actors states that their actions towards the suit is disrespectful.

According to the Hindustan Times, the notice claims that, "by putting (the suit) in auction, you have shown no respect for national interest (and) have also played with the sentiments of armed forces personnel and their widows and their family members."

It adds, "As a matter of fact, till date no uniform or medal has been put for auction. The reason for the same being that an officer’s uniform is bestowed as a singular honour on a commissioned officer by the President of India for life. It is not a contract but entails a liability for the nation’s sake and thus the array of medals and ranks, insignia are for the discerning eye of the one who proudly wears it."

The legal notice has also been sent to the auction house SaltScout.

The auction goes on till May 26, with the current bid for the uniform being INR235,000.

The legal notice asks Akshay and Twinkle to cancel the auction "failing which necessary action shall be taken against you under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code."

Akshya Kumar wore the suit for 2016 film Rustom, which was inspired from true events. The couple has since then defended their auction claiming they "are doing some work with good intention for a good cause."

The letter if any has no legal relevance. Many scenes in film and story are fictitious, and most Indian films are fiction, even they insult their idols in some films like in film " Hamjooli" and many others. The writer, the director, took part in transforming a complete film, Akshya is a paid actor according to story or directions. Please leave the films & films makers to entertain the people, and don't create issues like 'insult' 'disrespectful ' the films are made for short term entertainment and that's it. Besides the films help create peace & friendships like Bollywood has really done exemplary in bringing India Pakistan closer. The films and film people are doing a great job in India. In the same way the sports events, the doctor's conferences, the farmers meetings, the environmental conferences, the industrialist cooperation, trade, can raise the standard of living in sub- continent, we must support the sub- continental approach , which is the need of today.

Uniforms are not there to sell off. Better twinkle sell her own personal belongins such as make up items, purse, shooes and innerwears, I am sure there will be hundrends of her fans ready to pay thousands for the cause of charity.

This is not an army officer uniform but a costume used during a movie. The couple are auctioning it for a charitable purpose. Really some people would do for cheap publicity.
