Salman Khan granted bail in blackbuck poaching case

After spending two nights in Jodhpur Central Jail, the actor is expected to be released from jail this evening
Updated 07 Apr, 2018

Salman Khan has been granted bail by a Jodhpur court in a 1998 blackbuck poaching case, reports Economic Times.

While his co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre were acquitted in the case two days ago, Salman was sentenced to five years in prison in a "surprise verdict".

After spending two nights in Jodhpur Central Jail, Salman Khan's plea for bail and suspension of sentence was approved and he can now file an appeal against his conviction and sentencing.

The bail was granted on a bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties of Rs 25,000 each. Salman is expected to be released from jail by 7pm today.

Khan will have to seek permission from the court before travelling abroad. His next hearing is scheduled for May 7.

Needs to be in jail. Got to respect the law of the land. It's as simple as keeping promises to oneself.

Latest amendment to constitution. Indian penal code is not applicable to Indians with first name Salman and second name Khan. An overtly emotional society

@Junaid Ali . The court & judges obviously follow rules and law in their orders. Almost 19 years Salman Khan bears hassle in court hearings, that punishment is suffice, court has discretion to fine Rs 10K or 10 lakhs. In the instant case court can also order to compensate the loss loss by providing 2 black bucks to WWF, and he can get these across the border from Pak where recently the Pak Punjab Govt offered for sale of black bucks, as they over breed, and extra numbers available for sale. Male Buck at Pak Rs 50K and Female Rs 30K. No doubt it's what you people say ( ghalti say mistake) after mistake there is always ' pardon' , besides a strong valid point is that 5 other accused got free, and in such cases ,court never picks single individual for crime, all the group was enjoying that hunt or occasion whatever one says. It is believed that the Session Court will set aside the previous order, and will raise the monetary fine, that may be used for safety of Black Bucks.

@Junaid Ali - Case was related to animal. still imprisonment given. Bail you cannot deny as Salman can go to higher court for getting justice and that's the way indian judiciary works . if convicted then high chances that he will be given less number of years punishment

Salman Khan has been released on bail to enable him to file a follow-up court case. Yes, he has been released but not because he is a Muslim.

He gets 5 years sentence for hunting an animal while hundreds of human beings are being killed, injured and tortured in Kashmir for using their right to protest. Is the Indian law blind towards the human beings in the country? I am so glad that he is free on bail and hopefully will be acquitted soon
