There have been a plethora of reactions in India to Bollywood's freshest controversy -- the five-year jail sentence given to superstar Salman Khan for his poaching of endangered black bucks in 1998.

And from Pakistan, it appears that actor Mawra Hocane is raising her voice for Salman.

Taking to Twitter, Mawra expressed her disappointment over the verdict, "In a world with no “NO” human rights, a great human being is being punished for killing an animal umpteen years ago under animal rights."

She further added, "Bash me all you want, but there’s something completely wrong about it.. mind you such human beings are our saving grace! #SalmanKhanVerdict"

Her tweet sparked a mix of responses, ranging from reminders of Salman's involvement in a hit and run case to suggestions that the suffering of Kashmir is an issue that deserves her attention more.

Mawra must know that black deer are protected as endangered species across the two sides of the border. And every violation has a consequence. We may like it or not. We must learn to call spade a spade. And countries like Pakistan and India need to create an environment where rule of law remains equal for everyone be it rich, poor or a common man. Mawra, with all due respect we need to over come this elitist favouritism. A violation of law is a violation. Period.
