Mawra defends Salman Khan after his conviction in poaching case

Mawra is upset that "a great human being is being punished for killing an animal umpteen years ago"
Updated 06 Apr, 2018

There have been a plethora of reactions in India to Bollywood's freshest controversy -- the five-year jail sentence given to superstar Salman Khan for his poaching of endangered black bucks in 1998.

And from Pakistan, it appears that actor Mawra Hocane is raising her voice for Salman.

Taking to Twitter, Mawra expressed her disappointment over the verdict, "In a world with no “NO” human rights, a great human being is being punished for killing an animal umpteen years ago under animal rights."

She further added, "Bash me all you want, but there’s something completely wrong about it.. mind you such human beings are our saving grace! #SalmanKhanVerdict"

Her tweet sparked a mix of responses, ranging from reminders of Salman's involvement in a hit and run case to suggestions that the suffering of Kashmir is an issue that deserves her attention more.

Mawra must know that black deer are protected as endangered species across the two sides of the border. And every violation has a consequence. We may like it or not. We must learn to call spade a spade. And countries like Pakistan and India need to create an environment where rule of law remains equal for everyone be it rich, poor or a common man. Mawra, with all due respect we need to over come this elitist favouritism. A violation of law is a violation. Period.

Who cares for her opinion. Law will take itw own course. He is a billionaire and with the help of brilliant and expensive lawyers he will escape the punishment. He will not be poorer but lawyers will be richer. Do not fret and fume.

Only that the animal belongs to an endangered species. If Mawra does not know the meaning of the word 'endangered', then she should look it up. May be then she'll get some perspective.

Looking to bag a film? This maska won't work. Yes, you can take Indian citizenship leaving your nation behind. Adnan Sami took a smart decision, you can too.

HE broke the law and must be punished. Law is the law. HE already received special treatment with his money and fame to push the case by 20 years.

The expression on Salman Khan's face is far more expressive than in his movies. The suppressed anger and frustration of the entitled glitterati is worth watching. Hopefully, after five years in the clink, he will emerge a fine character actor. Run people over in his SUV, kill protected black bucks... come on Mawra, no one can be that entitled.

This "I am so and so and essentially above the law" attitude has to go. It has been proved otherwise in case of Lalu Yadav, Jaylalitha, Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan and Nawab Sharif to name a few. Mayawati, Sonia Gandhi, Robert Vadra, Asif Zardari, and Musharraf should be the next batch on that list.

If an animal was on endangered species list and it was killed then Salman had threatened a complete species ! 5 years will pass easily
