Deepika's had a lucky streak and she's made a name for herself in Bollywood.
In an interview with Filmfare, Deepika Padukone talks about her debut film, her claim to fame through Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and whether she's single, you hear?
Speaking on being refused a film project, she says that her film opposite Ranbir Kapoor was the best thing that happened to her after a film opposite an unnamed superstar got dropped. "I ended up doing a film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and I'm so happy I did, I'm so happy it fell into my lap. It's the best thing that could've happened to me. It is the classic example of when things happen they happen for a reason," she said.
And it can be said without a doubt that the Piku star has been lucky with her projects, especially her debut film Om Shanti Om. The actress explains that she was taken on board without any screening and had Farah Khan and SRK guide her throughout the process.
"I had never been on a film set before. I didn't know where to look, how to give dialogues, what to do with your body. I didn't know anything. Farah and Shah Rukh literally had to handhold me through that entire process," said Deeps.
"The reason why I will always value that is because they never screen tested me. They did a look test, [my character's] look in the film, but they never auditioned me. Farah had always given me the confidence and the assurance that I was on for the film in spite of knowing that i had no experience, nothing."
Perhaps what she found so unbelievable was that she got a double role in her first film. "And a double role in your first film, I get goosebumps sometimes when I think about it. How could they have trusted me so much and given me so much when they didn't even know if I as capable of delivering or not? It amazes me sometimes," she said.
And, of course, when she was grilled about her relationship status, she said she's single. Pfft.
