Former Lux ambassadors will take the stage at LSA 2018

Meera, Humaima or Babra Sharif — who's going to invoke Lux Style Awards' past glory at the upcoming show?
Updated 15 Feb, 2018

This year’s Lux Style Awards are just around the corner and we know for a fact that it’s going to be a different show from those staged in the past.

Keeping in mind the recent child abuse cases that have been exposed in the country, the LSAs are planning to stay away from song and dance performances. That’s not a big loss, now that we come to think of it, considering the left feet with which most of our celebrities dance!

“It’s still a very interesting show,” says show director Vaneeza – Vinnie – Ahmed. “The LSAs are now in their 16th year and that’s quite an achievement. The platform has grown and has become understandably more socially responsible. It’s giving out a pertinent message against child abuse and spotlighting Frieha Altaf’s recently launched campaign for human rights, #MeinBhi. There’s also plenty of humour and some very interesting segments.”

One such segment is going to be highlighting the ‘Lux’ ambassadors through the years and it’s certainly going to be a very nostalgic journey. Spiralling back in time, so many of Pakistan’s most beautiful actresses have been ambassadors for the soap brand: among them, Nisho, Sahiba, Meera, Nirma, Reema, Neeli, Babra Sharif, Resham, Aamina Sheikh, Humaima Malick to present day, with the three ‘M’s, Mahira Khan, Maya Ali and Mawra Hocane lathering on ‘Zara sa Lux’.

“We are trying to gather as many [Lux ambassadors] as we can,” says show director Vaneeza Ahmed

We are not sure as to exactly how many of the women will be coming on stage. “We are trying to gather as many as we can,” says Vinnie. Unfortunately, we have heard that Reema and Babra Sharif may be unavailable. Nevertheless, to have even some of them together on stage is going to be a veritable ‘Lux’ moment - one of those memorable iconic instances that the show manages to deliver every now and then.

In addition, Vasay Chaudhry and Ahmed Ali Butt will be primarily hosting the show with other celebrities stepping in for various segments. Given Vasay and Ahmed’s rapport, they’re bound to bring in some hilarity. Singer Sahir Ali Bagga will be performing a composition especially created for the show.

It’s also going to be grand and glamourous, according to Vinnie. And of course, we can always expect the awards results to stir up controversy and conjecture. We can’t wait!

Lux Style Awards 2018 is taking place on February 20, 2018.
