Jawad Bashir is directing a web series and it's called Chattkhara
Television shows are great but this year, we're really digging web-series.
The rise of digital content has increased over the last couple of years and web-series can tackle issues and stories that aren't represented in mainstream media. Yes, the budgets aren't as big but that doesn't mean it's not innovative content.
So what inspired Jawad Bashir to delve into the world of web with his new exclusive series Chattkhara in collaboration with Hum TV?
"I noticed that all over the world, web is the most active medium while in Pakistan, not much attention is being given to it, at least not as much as it warrants. I feel like the relevant qualified professionals are still more focused on television and film rather than creating web series. So I thought I should take the initiative and show that professionals have taken web on and it's something that should be done to compete with the rest of the world," shared the filmmaker.
He added, "We also had a limited budget to work under so that was a small hurdle but I was still willing to take it on and I'm glad I did because it was so much fun."
Expanding more on what the experience was like, the Teri Meri Love Story directed revealed, "It was a fun journey working on Chattkhara and I learnt a lot by working with new people who have a unique thinking process and style and a lot of excitement regarding working on new projects."
"However, it was still a challenging project since I'm a novice when it comes to this, it's uncharted territory for me. Nevertheless, I explored the medium with Chattkhara because I believe that every medium has it's own requirements and techniques so I'm working on mastering those, no doubt there is a bit of a learning curve."
When asked what's next in store for him, Bashir told Images: "I have many plans with Hum in the pipeline. I'm designing a few more web series which hopefully you'll be able to see soon!"
