Na Maloom Afraad 2 will screen at HBO's South Asian film fest in New York
The sequel to one of Pakistan's most-loved comedy flicks Na Maloom Afraad is set to tickle expats' funny bones in New York.
NMA2, directed by Nabeel Qureshi and produced by Fiza Ali Meerza, will be screening at HBO's South Asian International Film Festival, which will take place next week from December 13-17, according to the festival's website.
The film marks the return of the infamous trio (Javed Sheikh, Fahad Mustafa, Mohsin Abbas Haider) as they embark on a new get-rich-quick scheme, this time involving an Arab sheikh whose gold toilet gets stolen in South Africa! The film also stars Urwa Hocane and Hania Amir in supporting roles.
NMA 2 is marked as one of the festival's highlights and is being featured as the Centrepiece Film at the event.
But that's not all on the Pakistani film front.
SAIFF will also feature the world premiere of Rehan Sheikh and Sanam Saeed-starrer Azad on December 15.
According to an entry on the festival website, Azad is the story of a free-spirited radio jockey who goes by the name of Azad (the free one). When he has a chance encounter with his ex-girlfriend Jia, Azad realises that he might not be as free from his past as he likes to think.
Rehan Sheikh makes his directorial debut with this film, which makes the feature at SAIFF an exciting prospect.
Here's hoping both films enjoy a great reception in NY!
