Shoaib Mansoor's trailer for Verna is out now!

We see Mahira Khan in her boldest role yet
Updated 17 Oct, 2017

The trailer for the much-awaited Shoaib Mansoor film Verna has just been released.

While Shoaib Mansoor has tried to keep the film's plot under wraps, word has it that Verna is a revenge drama that centres around the protagonist Sarah's (Mahira Khan) struggle for justice after she survives rape.

We got a sense of the film's dark, gritty mood in its initial teaser and then Mansoor offered us some relief in the music video for the song 'Sambhal Sambhal Kay'.

What does the trailer reveal? We learn that that Sarah has been let down by two men in her life — her husband (Haroon Shahid) and a political acquaintance of hers (Zarrar Khan) — and that she does, indeed, have revenge on her mind. Rasheed Naz's closing dialogue 'DNA match kara tou kya kareyge?' (What do we do if the DNA matches?) confirms that a rape does occur in the film.

But there's still lots more to Verna. Watch its trailer here:

Verna comes out on November 17.

This woman is seriously over-rated. Shoaib Mansoor is an awesome filmmaker and he should hire better talent. there are alot of talented actors in Pakistan now

Video quality and production values look low-budget and TV-like. But the trailer creates intrigue, which is the backbone of every good story. If the film can engage through it's characters, meaning they have depth and the story has twists and turns, it may be a good film.

Mahira Khan is over rated. It doesn’t mean she acted in Indian films she is a good actor. The male actor don’t know about him. Anyways will see

Why do Pakistani films look more like their dramas? This trailer looks more like a drama show than a film. We have a saying in India that when the opening (trailer) is bad the movie is a flop. Sadly this trailer is boring. Also Mahira Khan is over rated as an actor. She really needs to work on her emotional scenes. Saba Qamar would have killed it.

There is an element of some fakeness in the dialogues and delivery. I hope its just a bad trailer though. A Shoaib Manor film is not expected to have such loop holes.

@Alex No. I hate items songs & crass dialogue too. Given the standards of Shoaib Mansoor & Mahira Khan, more was expected. This looks like a TV drama trailer. Nothing great.

@Bhoy indian watch a Shoaib Mansoor movie and say it. Watch Khuda ke liye and Bol His films are better than any bollywood rubbish, I would go further to say they are better quality than a lot of hollywood movies too. Because he shows the reality of society and forces the public to face uncomfortable truths about itself. Film making at its best. I have never seen an indian film do that, few hollywood movies have done that either.

@Bhoy indian Dramas are a part of Movies. A film without drama is nothing but junk. Shoaib Mansoor gave two major hits in the past and this is his 3rd venture which will be a big hit. As far as Mahira Khan is concerned she has 5 super hit movies on her credit 4 in Pakistan and 1 in India. Saba Qamar is good but she just started movies.

@Alanore Sorry I defer from you. I did watch Raees & Mahira Khan has no screen presence. Saba Qamar on the other hand was very good in Hindi Medium. Its an acting industry, not a good looking industry.

@akram If you haven't watched it,doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Bollywood produced movies - 3 idiots, black, Pink, Taare Zameen par, Devdas, Shahid, Paa, Haidar, Dangal, Lagaan..endless list. Movies which were Oscar nominated, featured in cannes, won various international film festivals, conquered foreign markets - China, Hong kong, Turkey, Japan etc.

Mahira is admired and respected artist! So, learn to show respect for the great artists of Pakistan that are putting Pakistan on the map ! What have you done, beside giving negative narrative!
