So you braved the mandatory viewing of Stephen King's It? Looks like you'll have to face Pennywise on the big screen in 2019 all over again.

An It sequel is confirmed for 2019, with the release date being reported as September 6, 2019.

The Stephen King novel flits between past and present and tells the story of a group of children-turned-adults on a mission to cleanse their hometown of its demon (i.e., Pennywise the clown). However, the film's Chapter One just focused on the children, leaving room for a sequel that tells their story as adults.

This, coupled with It's record-breaking box office earnings (over $265 million domestically and over $475 million globally), made the sequel necessary.

Chapter One director Andy Muschietti and one of the screenwriters Gary Dauberman are confirmed to return for the sequel, and it's being said that young cast will also feature heavily in Chapter Two.

While the sequel will focus on the characters as adults, it will also feature flashbacks and they won't be brief. The flashbacks are integral to the events that unfold for the adults. “They’re a very big part of the action,” says Muschietti to Entertainment Weekly.

The adult cast of Chapter Two is yet to be revealed.
