Ahsan Khan's got his dancing shoes on for an upcoming Pakistani musical in London
Ahsan Khan's going for the trifecta as he learns how to dance, sing and act for an upcoming theatre play in London.
Titled Ishq, the play will be an adaptation of popular folktale Heer Ranjha, Ahsan told Images. And he will be playing the lead role.
"It's a Sufi/Pakistani musical and it's going to be mostly in English. The story is an adaptation of Heer Ranjha, the main reason being that the play is a celebration of 70 years of Pakistan and [hopes to spread] the Sufi message of love and peace," said the Udaari actor.
"Basically we are promoting the lighter side of Islam, which is much, much needed these days," he adds, going on to claim that "it's the first time that Pakistani theatre is happening in London."
Ahsan explained that the play will feature three to four songs, which are a blend of Punjabi songs. The play is set against the backdrop of a village, in keeping with Heer Ranjha's story.
"The legends of Heer Ranjha tells the story of a romance that created revolutionary uproar. An adaptation of that love story, Ishq combines classical and modern dance with a unique blend of poetry and fusion music," he said.
The play will be staged at Sadler's Wells Theatre London from September 7-9th .
