I'm in favour of female-centric films, says Nawazuddin Siddiqui

The actor advocates gender equality and sees the increase in female centric films as a step in the right direction

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is all for women playing the lead in films.

According to Mumbai Mirror, the actor shared his opinion on the growth of films with female protagonists. Siddiqui, who will be seen next in Sri Devi starrer Mom, sees this shift as a positive change.

"I am in favour of women-oriented films because women are taking the lead in every field, be it education, science or sports. This change should be welcomed by all," said the Raees actor.

He added, "It is very important to portray a woman's individuality. Till now, women were used as objects (in movies), but now movies are being made on them."

The actor believes that the rise in female centric films is a step in the right direction for the entertainment industry.

Mom is not the first female lead film that Nawazuddin has been a part of, the actor has also worked with Vidya Balan for thriller mystery Kahaani.

About upcoming Mom Nawazuddin mentioned how he admired the "dignified and disciplined" conduct of Sri Devi. "She was doing this film like it was her first film," said Siddiqui.

After Mom Nawazuddin will be seen in Nandita Das's project Manto where he will play the role of the titular character. Siddiqui is also working on film Munna Michael with Tiger Shroff. Psst! He will dance in that one!
