A film about Hindu-Muslim unity won the Audience Award at the annual London Indian Film Festival.

A Billion Colour Story, which depicts harmony between Hindus and Muslims, is produced by Bollywood filmmaker Satish Kaushak and directed by Padmajumar Narasimhamurthy.

"It’s incredibly special for us that A Billion Colour Story resonates with audiences across countries and continents. It continues to vindicate our faith that people and their hearts are the same across cultures and horizons," said the filmmakers.

A Billion Colour Story is about a boy Hari, who's father is a Muslim and mother is Hindu and their struggles as a family.

The Bagri Foundation London Indian Film Festival is the UK and Europe’s largest Indian film festival, which aims to provide a platform for new and emerging independent South Asian films. The festival began on June 22 and will close on July 2.

“It is wonderful that the festival continues to lead the debate and not simply reflect the changing shape of Indian cinema; from this year’s Indian virtual reality showcases to bringing carefully curated important new talent to the world stage like actress Anjali Patil to showcasing emerging young directors like Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, director of closing night film Sexy Durga,” said festival executive and programming director Cary Rajinder Sawhney.
