Pakistan is taking its first film festival to the Big Apple to showcase local films and it's called the Pakistan Film Festival New York.
The event, promoted by Pakistan's Ambassador to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi, will screen productions in the presence of UN dignitaries.
"There will be UN dignitaries present at this event and we want to showcase the work and revival of the Pakistani film industry. Not to worry though, the festival is open to the public. You will just need to provide an identification card at the entrance," Lodhi tells Images.

She adds, "We are bringing some of Pakistan’s movies to New York so that diplomats from 193 countries at the UN also have an opportunity to see what the country’s entertainment industry is producing."
Besides the dignitaries, notable actors from Pakistan's film industry will also be present at the event. and will "be speaking on the films which are screening. We can't take names as yet but rest assured it will be a star studded event!"
The festival which will be held from December 3-4th and will screen the following films: Dobara Phir Se, Lahore Say Aagey, Actor in law, Pakistan’s Oscar nomination Mah e Meer, Academy award winner Sharmeen Obaid’s animated film 3 Bahadur, Dukhtar, Dance Kahani and Ho Mann Jahaan.
Good Job Malleha. you are a God Send for our country. Thankyou so ver much for promoting the brighter image of Pakistan.
Excellent development
where is Waar ?
Instead of newyork it should have been in china.
Why is it not being held in Pakistan?
Dr Lodhi is doing an amazing job with these initiatives (Rahat at the UN etc) I wish they had chosen a bigger venue so more people could avail this opportunity.
@bk Dilli will be better.
These festivals should also be held across USA in all major cities with the collaboration of local Pakistani communities
Instead of US it should be China... we may get more business from there.
Only a few Pakistani Taxi Drivers, small chicken tikka restaurant owner will come to see the show cause they are the one who is sponsors too.
Lots of NYC desi taxi drivers will attend. Not sure if it will interest the actual Americans, UN officials of any importance and non desi New Yorkers
@bk - "Instead of newyork it should have been in china."
Couldn't digest any positive news about Pakistan.
what a proud achievement of an Islamic country...
I wish I could go for this, but I wonder - why is the Pakistani Film Festival not held in Pakistan?
@AKA People have better taste.
@Ehsan Who will pay the bill, you?
@gogo sure, a lot of us could support the endeavor
