Mehreen Jabbar is returning to TV with two telefilms this Eid
Mehreen Jabbar is ready for her comeback in telefilms.
The director, who made several telefilms before shifting to feature films like Ram Chand Pakistani and Dobara Phir Se, is set to return to what she believes started it all for her.
Images got in touch with the Ghoongat director to find out that she has two telefims in the works.
"The two telefilms are produced by 7th Sky. One is written by Dr Muhammad Younis Butt and the other one by Muhammad Ahmed sahab. They're both very different in nature."
Jabbar has already started work on the script wriiten by Younis Butt.
"The first one which I'm currently shooting stars Feroze Khan, Sana Javed, Shamim Hilali, Ali Ansari and Hashim Butt. Its fun, I wouldn't call it a romantic comedy but it's very entertaining. I haven't done this kind of story before so I'm actually excited about this one."
About the second telefilm, Jabbar says, "The second is more of a lighthearted family drama in which there are two older couples and a couple of youngsters. That is being shot right after this one."
Jabbar expects success for these two projects and is excited to return to telefilms. According to the Jackson Heights director, "I think it's really nice to return to TV with telefilms. That's how I started my career and I prefer them and short stories to a serial any day. But I will be doing serials this year. It's obviously after the film. [Telefilms] take a little getting used to, but it's nice to be getting back to where I started from."
This return to telefilms does not mean that Jabbar is done with other mediums of TV. The director reveals her upcoming projects apart from these two and does she have a lot on her plate!
"I'm doing two serials this year and also working on stories for film. Haven't decided what kind of film and when it'll be done though. We're working on two potential ideas and that's hopefully for next year. This year is definitely for a serial and maybe a series. We're just planning the whole thing right now."
The telefilms are expected to release on Eid.
