Rishi Kapoor bashes young Bollywood for skipping Vinod Khanna's funeral

...and for attending Priyanka Chopra's party that night

As Bollywood mourns the death of veteran actor Vinod Khanna, who passed away yesterday, his Amar Akbar Anthony co-star Rishi Kapoor has taken to Twitter to express his fury.

Fury because the actor was upset at rising stars for skipping Khanna's funeral in Mumbai.

In a series of angry tweets, Rishi wrote, “Shameful. Not ONE actor of this generation attended Vinod Khanna’s funeral. And that too he has worked with them. Must learn to respect. Why this? Including mine and thereafter. When I die, I must be prepared. None will shoulder me. Very very angry with today’s so called stars.”

He also lashed out at all of them attending Priyanka Chopra's party that night but being absent from offering condolences to the Khanna family.

Khanna was hospitalised a little over a month ago for cancer but the family had remained tight-lipped about his condition. In a brief statement, the hospital said Khanna breathed his last at 11:20 am due to advanced bladder carcinoma, reports Hindustan Times.

Rishi sahib you are absolutely right. Today's actors are so selfish and everything has to be them. They are forgetting that their day will come too. You walk ten steps in a funeral people will walk twenty steps for you to your journey abode. Shameful act by this generation of actors.

Many people may not be aware that, Vinod Khanna and Firoze Khan were best friends. Firoze Khan passed away on 27 April ( 2009 ) and so is Vinod Khanna 27 April ( 2017 ) Both were extremely handsome and charismatic. May God blesses their soul with peace.

Mr. Rishi Kapoor is one of my all time favorite thespians. He never minces words when it comes to telling the truth. I totally agree with him, "So Called Stars" that will fade with the passage of time unlike the legendary Vinod Khanna whose giant shadow still eclipses all of these pygmies who consider themselves big stars. It was a day to mourn for the whole industry but all these fools made a mockery out of it by partying their hearts out. Utterly shameful!!!!!

Bollywood and most business places are like this. "Chadhte Sooraj ko Salaam". This was first experienced by actress Nanda when she attended Ashok Kumar's funerel. Even Amitabh Bachchan didn't attend Nirupa Roy's funerel who played his mother's role in many films.

People have right to go wherever they want to go. Funeral is family business and they should give privacy. Attending ritual is not important , One can respect to family afterward. And family need more support after everything is done.

I totally agree with Rishi Kapoor on this.Paying respect to your Elders is the crux of Indian Culture. How you behave in society and interact with other people depends on how your Parents brought you up. Unfortunately, today's generation has been brought up in the age of Materialism, Mobile Phones, Internet and Social Media platforms like Facebook and Twitter which has reduced Human Interaction even less. I don't blame that everything is bad in the Western Culture, but we are only taking the bad things from it and not the good things. I strongly urge today's parents to teach their kids how to Respect their Elders, the value of Human Dignity and Face to Face Interaction rather than just sending a Tweet or a Like on Facebook which means Nothing. What's the point of having a 1000 friends on Facebook when none are going to attend your Funeral.

Again, we see the apathetic state of affairs in the world of glitz and glamor. The so-called 'super stars' are more focused on making a fortune out of the scores of opportunities confronting them. They have little or no idea about respect and sanctity in the Indian film industry that we are so used to seeing for several years now. The present lot, it seems, haven't been given the precious values that used to be an integral part of the society until yesterday. Now, its all materialistic!

RIP Rishi has a point. It is shameful that so many people whom VK worked so closely with did not bother to attend. That is the least one can expect from fellow actors. Hope Amitabh did attend his funeral (worked together in hits such as Muqaddar ka Sikander, Amar Akbar Anthony, Hera Pheri). Zeenat Aman (Qurbani, Daulat) and Salman Khan (Dabangg) should have been there too....just to name a few

When rich and famous people die it is a big deal and Rishi Kapoor gets lots of press to express his anger. But when poor, destitute and sick die who are not rich and famous they are all burnt or buried no one talks about them, no one gets the press to report about them. Rishi Kapoor you belong to very rich and famous family, sometimes you should also live the life of poor a beggar and you will feel the real arrogance of rich and famous.

After reaching that level these people are aware of the responsibility they carry. Amitabh is a brand ambassador for polio. So many good causes - we need them to reach out to the masses.

He is right but unfortunately the entire industry did the same to Parveen Babi. No one turned up on her funeral not even her co actors/actresses ; directors etc except for a few like Mahesh Bhatt and Kabir Bedi. I think even Rishi Kapoor wasnt there despite the fact that he too worked with her in a couple of movies so he shouldnt complain.

New generation needs to learn how to pay respect their senior stars who have worked hard to bring the film industry to the point where youngsters are reaping the fruit. Rishi Sahib is correct in his observation, but sadly it is not just with Bollywood actors. It is a reflection of our society as a whole. There is whole generational change, and there is a significant change in values in today's young generation. In the older generation, being part of the community, helping each other out, brotherhood and friendship, respect for the elders, etc. was very important, and money was almost seen as the cause of 'evil' by many. In today's generation, money rules, and the motto is success above everything else.

@Desi let me enlighten u a bit in this regard . amitabh bacchan was giving interview for his new yet to be released movie SARKAR 3 when he got news of demise of vinod khanna . he immediately halted the interview and rushed to pay last farewell to his former co-star and was among the first to reach there with his son and other family members .

Grewup to watch Rishi kapoor, Vinod Khanna all times great entertainers movie stars and hurt to see this handsome man leave us all so quietly..i was born and raised in Peshawar and somehow all the greats of Bollywood are oneway or another from this great city..to name a few famous Kapoor Family, Dilipk Kumar , Vinod Khana,,many more..my condolences to the Khanna Family.
