Nawazuddin Siddiqui says that he is an artist above everything else

The actor expressed through a series of placards that artists should not be labelled based on their religion

It's time for artists to be allowed to work based on their art, not religion, expresses Nawazuddin Siddiqui's new video.

The short clip starts by showing the actor holding a placard which reads, "I got my DNA test done and when the report came in, I found out that I am..."

After which Nawazuddin is seen changing into getups of different religions, calling himself "16.66% Hindu", "16.66% Muslim" and "16.66% of all the other religions in the world", including Christianity and Buddhism.

The video tastefully ends with the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor holding up placards which read, "When I discovered my soul, I found that I am... a 100% artist."

Last year, Nawazuddin was forced to quit a play during a Hindu festival in his hometown due to his religion. The actor, through this video, voices his concern that above all, he is an artist.

The video also throws shade at India's ban on Pakistani artists last year.

Awesome Nawaz. You are a better actor than any other in the country. And above all you are 100% Indian.

Good thing he does not say these things in Pakistan. He will risk being lynched.
