F.R.I.E.N.D.S is going to be a musical
Tired of watching Friends re-runs?
The popular American sitcom, which was based on six friends and their intertwining lives in New York, is being reworked into Friends The Musical, but this interpretation won't turn out exactly as fans may expect.
The musical is being produced by parodists Bob and Tobly McSmith, who in the past have created musical parodies of Saved by the Bell, Full House and Katdashians! The Musical — featuring the Kardashians in Cats!
“Could we BE more excited about the chance to parody such an important TV show?!” Tobly said to Entertainment Weekly. “Not only do we poke fun and celebrate the show, we also get some jokes in about the actor’s lives,” including their hefty salaries and personal lives."
What more can Friends fans expect from the musical?
“Oh and there will be a smelly cat, there will be Janice, and there will be Fat Monica,” he continues. “We want all the alumni of Friends to come to the show and possibly be in it for a night or two — our first call is to the agent of Marcel the Monkey.”
Some original songs in the musical include 'The Only Coffee Shop in New York City', '45 Grove Street — How Can We Afford This Place?', Joey's 'How You Doing, Ladies?' and Ross and Rachel's '“Will They or Won’t They'.
The musical will open at off-Broadway in June.
