Mahira Khan joins Shah Rukh Khan for Raees promotion

The Pakistani actor finally got a chance to promote her Bollywood debut alongside Team Raees.
04 Feb, 2017

Mahira Khan finally joined her Raees co-stars at a press conference in Mumbai, via video call.

Times of India reported that the Pakistani actor got to be a part of her films' promotions via a video call earlier today. The press conference was held to address the film's global success.

This is the first time Mahira, who couldn't promote Raees in India due to the ban on Pakistani actors across the border, took part in an event related to her film with her co-stars post release.

During the session the Bin Roye actor was asked if she was nervous before the film's release, to which she replied: "I had this big fear that people will root for Shah Rukh's character and not mine. But once the film released, all my fears were put to rest by the response that I received, which has been completely fantastic and I am very grateful."

Being a big fan of SRK, Mahira enjoyed every moment being on set and revealed that King Khan "spoiled me a lot."

"It was like a dream come true. I wonder how can someone work with anyone else after working with him. SRK always used to make us laugh even before a serious scene, due to which we simply couldn't keep a straight face for the camera."

On landing in Mumbai for the first time Mahira laughed and shared, "When I reached the Mumbai Airport, I thought I'd be greeted by Shah Rukh running towards me, with his arms open. But that didn't happen."

Mahira also spoke of her experience of dancing in 'Udi Udi Jaa' saying "I had to rehearse a lot and the choreographers helped me immensely."

Shah Rukh Khan, however, also found the song difficult. "It was a tough song. I've never done garba in my 25 years in the film industry. I had to work hard for it. I am more of a performer, whereas Nawazuddin and Mahira are great actors. Picking up the beats of a song comes naturally to them."

Shah Rukh Khan was also asked about the actresses who have debuted with him, from Deepika and Anushka to Mahira Khan. "Deepika was already working in South. Anushka was also into modelling, and Mahira was acting before as well. All three of them were working before debuting in a film with me," he responded.

There's no denying that Mahira is loved by her Raees co-stars as Nawazuddin Siddiqui jokingly said, "I wanted to be a part of the 'Zaalima' song just to have some more scenes with her."

And now that Raees will be releasing in Pakistan, Mahira is most excited that people in her homeland will get to watch her Bolly debut on the big screen.

"The film will soon release in Pakistan and people here are dying to watch it. I have full faith that people would go and watch Raees."

Nothing can be more beautiful than Indo-Pak creative collaborations at various level. Bollywood has the power to bring both the countries together and fanatics and thugs of extremist religious parties in India are worried due to this fact and leave no stone unturned to scuttle the trend.

It is ridiculous to put ban of films and dramas. The decision of Indian Industry (of course due to fear) banning Pakistani artists participation in Bollywood movies is not acceptable. It in fact shows that they are afraid of Pakistani dominance.

Worst movie of shahrukh khan!! I am quite disappointed by the script of the movies that shahrukh is choosing since last few years!! He should work on the scripts like Dangal and PK and accept challanging roles. I dont find SRK performance and role like "Chak-de-India" after this moive!! There is nothing new in the movie which can encourage the youth for the betterment of the society. In fact it promotes the hate crime for the youth!

Cooperation and dialogues are vital to resolve issues and concerns between to countries Pakistan and India. Both countries shared social and cultural values for a long time and why they cannot now? India like Pakistan has extremist in all their institutions. From film industry to religious communities. At least both countries should leave arts and entertainment alone as this branch can help bring us together.

I have seen so many beautiful actors in Pakistan and after watching Raees I was dissapointed, Mahira is extremely average looking and her acting left a lot to be desired, although to be fair, it wasn't a big role...being a photographer, I can tell you that it would be difficult to capture a good looking profile or a straight perspective of Mahira - the only angle that might work for her is a 3/4 but that is the best angle for most Asian women anyway...was hoping for better looks and talent from Pakistan! The movie as a whole is average at best!!!

@really We respect for your opinion, To be honest we had reseravtion before going to see Raees but it is better than what we expected. It is hard hitting action packed Godfather type movie. People were clapping at the end of the movie... We were surprised and enjoyed the movie....

We Indians love Pakistani artists. The right wing fascist political Hindu parties have become ruthless due to secular parties' incompetence. But market conditions demand India Pakistan collaboration. After Modi is defeated in next elections the Pakistani artists might start coming back to India.
