Momina Mustehsan blasts breakup rumours: 'Stop selling my personal life for clicks'

In a Facebook post, Momina has responded to rumours of ending her engagement
22 Jan, 2017

Last night, a new Momina Mustehsan rumour was circling the internet.

It was said that the popular singer has broken off her engagement with fiance Ali Naqvi, just four months after they swapped rings in September. Soon enough, her legion of male fans began to rejoice about her alleged singlehood.

But the 'Afreen' singer has just come out with a statement, blasting the websites and social media pages that published the rumour.

In a Facebook post, she asks followers and publishers of news sites and social media pages to respect her personal space, "Just like everyone, I have a personal life that I have every right to keep to myself. Please don't turn it into a joke and a source of entertainment."

While she refrained from commenting on the veracity of the rumours, she urged publications to "stop selling my personal life for clicks and views."

Guess Momina's just witnessed the dark side of celebrity. We hope her fandom heeds her plea for privacy.

Celebrities love camera clicks and flashes. Social media clicks are a by product. Comes with the package.

Happens all the time. When they got engaged she was a nobody. Now due to coke studios popularity some of us know her as the 2nd vocalist of their hit song afreen with rahat sahab which has made her a pakistani celebrity who can also be very delusional. Nothing to see here. If anything the guy is lucky it didnt breakoff after marriage. Engagements nothing in comparison

It explains a lot about the Pakistani mind-set. Privacy needs to be respected whether it be celebrity or anyone

She's a celebrity and her personal life isn't personal anymore. She's in the wrong field if that's what she wants.

well shes popular shes got a celebrity status in pak and she needs to grow up and take the other things that come with it, rumors are certainly part & parcel of a celeb's life. learn to live with it or call it quits and move back to NYC. Your daddy is wealthy enough to buy you a condo up in Manhattan...wait hes already bought you one ;) Respect from ISB, PAK :)

this is the price you pay for being or wanting to be on camera, if you cannot handle it, leave the field and do what normal people do !!!

We all go through this challenge to prevent rumors as there are many angles to consider. It's a waste of time and energy to fight back. The problem is people have lot of free time on hand and they have nothing else to do except start rumors. Rumours can be true or not and can just come from people who are haters or jealous of your success and they can even come from people who you thought were your friends. Whatever the source, it needs to be dealt with in a prudent way. In my personal opinion, to ignore it is to simply bury your head in the sand. The other option of course is stop it in it’s tracks. Those who pay attention to the rumours without either finding the truth out , or hearing the other side are much worse than the people who spread rumours. You can't hide these things for ever, and the truth will finally surface one day.My suggestion is to acknowledge it or deny it.This will make you stronger and more resilient. Its time to reassess your friends list.Pray and seek HIS help.

Good thing I'm not famous! On a side note, I don't think she has done enough to deserve such hype. She should thank God she's pretty and I'm not being sexist. I would say the same for chaiwala!

I have a question for you Miss Momina Mistehsan, If you are a private person and doesn't want to share your so-called Personal Life..then WHY YOU CAME INTO INDUSTRY??? You are singing in Coke studio, giving interviews, sharing your family pics, posting your pics on social media. First you came in front of camera telling the whole world about your presence, giving info about your education, showing off your self, announced officially that you are engaged, you did all this to become a famous, so people know and follow you on tweeter, AND now all of sudden your life is PRIVATE. GREAT!!!

@Murtaza Really ? Then should have stayed at home like other girls, not showing off herself in front of camera. She wanted to become famous , coming in coke studio, giving interviews and announced her engagement news to media and now her life is private ?

No. Its not her Personal life. When you share every its and bits of your life and put every pic on social media, you are opening up your personal life by yourself to the public. If you really care about your personal life, do not be so social. There are many celebs in the industry who are celebs but completely private. Not very much active on media but popular and doing great. If you need personal space, don't put your personal videos on youtube, your every family and vacation pics on social pages. Celebs like her need fame from public and tweet for every single sec , and when something unpleasant happens, start crying over. Another thing is if her engagement broke off, I m sure she was well aware of it and completely satisfied with it and its no big of a news for the people who are making this so much of an issue. In today's date, breaking off is not a huge deal instead of lingering on with a burden that can only give you pain in life.
