Bollywood actor/model Mallika Sherawat was attacked in what police suspect was a home robbery attempt at her Paris apartment building last week.

According to Dailymail, Mallika was tear gassed and beaten up by three masked men when she and her partner Cyrille Auxenfans returned home last Friday. The incident follows Kim Kardashian's robbery at gun point, which took place a month ago in the same neighbourhood.

Mallika lives in the upmarket 16th arrondissement of Paris and had returned home at 9.30pm when the attack took place.

Le Parisien newspaper describes how the criminals wore scarves across their faces and "without saying a word, sprayed their victims with tear gas before punching them." The attackers then fled, leaving the couple to call emergency services.

A criminal investigation has been launched, with police suspecting that the assailants were attempting a robbery. No items have been reported missing, however. The couple has sustained minor injuries from the incident.
