Jal revives old concert memories in latest music video

Frontman Goher Mumtaz says it's Pakistani artistes' responsibility to fill the void left by the ban on Indian content

The ban on Indian content may have left many upset, but music band Jal thinks it's the perfect time for Pakistani artistes to step up their game.

With their latest music video 'Tu Muskura', Jal is beginning to do just that.

The video is a special compilation of footage of Jal's live shows and snippets of the band members travelling the world. It revives old memories of the concert culture in Pakistan.

"Since Indian content has stopped, it is the musicians' responsibility to keep making music and release music albums so that viewers can enjoy local talent," says Goher Mumtaz, the band's lead singer.

On October 19th, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) approved a complete ban on airing of Indian content in Pakistan starting October 21st. The ban extends to all Indian content on cable and radio being aired in the country.

In light of this, the singer adds, "Listeners are always searching for good content and we cannot just complain."

We're glad to see Jal back in the game. Here's to looking forward to more local music on the airwaves!

I had very good memories listening to these bands while at work, travelling and at home. I totally agree with Gohar and I hope our music industry bounces back taping this opportunity. We provided wonderful singers in in the past 30 odd years and wish they come up with something wonderful again.

Things were classy before cheap Indian thmese hit our shelves for the low i.q masses. Create stuff that our people get addicted to it just like we did in the 80's and 90's.
