Anurag Kashyap has a question for Modi: 'Why haven't you apologised for visiting the Pak PM?'

Anurag Kashyap has a question for Modi: 'Why haven't you apologised for visiting the Pak PM?'

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Nawaz Sharif on December 25, the same time as KJo was shooting ADHM
16 Oct, 2016

One would expect Anurag Kashyap to have a hard-hitting response to the possible ban on Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil for featuring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.

Also read:

The filmmaker, who is no stranger to bans, hit out at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking him why Karan Johar has to suffer a ban when Modi himself was making a pleasure trip to Pakistan to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the time Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was being shot in India.

Anurag took to Twitter to voice his complaint about these double standards.

The ban on Pakistani actors comes in response to the Uri attacks in Kashmir. While the Indian Producers Association has passed a resolution for the ban on Pakistani artists working in India, it made an exception for films like ADHM that have already completed shooting with a Pakistani star. Still, ADHM faces hurdles on its way to the box office.

Kashyap needs to understand that the relationship sometimes are good and sometimes they are bad....he should know as he has been divorced twice Govt is not banning the film...kjo can release it but can't blame Govt if no one is willing to watch the film

Anurag Kashyap's questions may be appropriate but dragging PM is not appropriate. The PM has never suggested ban on artists nor asked any movie to be targeted. Censor Board has passed the movie too.

Anurag, what's the relationship between the two? Or do you simply want your 2 minutes of 'fame'? Modi hasn't asked for film artist ban, has he?! He was talking about fighting a joint war against poverty and hunger with Pakistan. Banning film artists doesn't make much of a difference.

Whatever, Pakistani artists are not welcome in India. This is also a kind of trade where artists give their service and get paid. Pakistan is against increasing trade with India so this film industry trade should also stop.

Because that was a business trip, under the garb of improving relations, to help strengthen Nawaz-Jindal private business dealings. Neither was that trip to benefit common Indians nor was it to benefit common Pakistanis.

The Pakistani stars are given a role in Indian films, not because they are great actors. It is only from the commercial angle, to make that film popular in Pakistan, and also in India, where many Muslims like and love anything from Pakistan!

Kudo Mr. Kasyap. It is foolish to ban films produced by our own people. I hope current situation eases and peace prevails. Bollywood should always encourage and welcome great talent from neighbor.

lol! it was Film producers and Film Body that have decided not to rope Pak actors. It is understandable and it is in their interest - for they do not want their movie theaterto be deserted at the time of Uri, Pathankot. This is similar to BCCIs / PCB situation. His industry boycots and he is asking Modi for an explanation :)

Anurag's question is out of context Modi has nothing to do with Pakistani Actors Ban. He must know better who put the ban and who threatened Pakistani Actors. Maligning Modi is quick and cheap publicity.

Anurag Kashyap your PM will never say sorry, he often remains in contact with NS after that. Later after what your PM says "surgical strikes" are yet not found on our side, for such unfounded "surgical strikes" again you people must ask him to apologize. And your PM will not apologize . The best solution for such controversies is simply ask your people to keep films and politics apart.

Freedom of speech. Criticising Modi is the new normal in India for those who want to be on front pages of Pakistan news papers.

What a stupid comment from kashyap. What Modi has to do with ban. Is he on censor board ? He has better things to do. Find a better reason for ban. It has nothing to so with Fawad.

@Naeem ulfateh these are not logical questions. Modi never banned any artists. The issue was created by local politicians in Mumabi. They are mostly against even Modi himself. Even now Government oof India did not revoke their visas.
