What girls really, really want is access to education, gender equality and equal pay

Two decades ago, the single 'Wannabe' turned the Spice Girls into international pop stars.

Now, the catchy track is making another big statement.

The band's debut song has been remade by the charity, Project Everyone, featuring female artists like Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez and London-based R&B trio M.O, among others.

The empowering video, which highlights the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, shows women from all over the world telling government leaders what they hope to achieve - from an end to violence against women to quality education for girls.

Talking to The Guardian, MJ Delaney, the director of the film shares, “This is about modern day girl power. The Spice Girls were about a group of different women joining together and being stronger through that bond. These differences are what we want to celebrate in this film, while showing there are some universal things that all girls, everywhere, really, really want.”

“We're trying to show how the [global] goals contain the answers to the world’s problems,” said Richard Curtis, one of the backers of the initiative.

“From the refugee crisis to disease, humanitarian disasters to terrorism and war. And especially focussing on the incredible importance of progress in the area of girls and women. Global goals for global girls.”

Go, girls, go!! Stand up and be counted! You have the power to effectuate change. What an excellent way to get the message across while building bridges - contemporary music and dance with lots of energy. Very positive, upbeat approach. Keep on rockin'!
