I don't want to play a cliched Indian girl: Anushka Sharma on going to Hollywood

Guess she won't be joining Deepika and Priyanka overseas so soon after all
Updated 20 Jun, 2016

It's undeniable that Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone have started to make their mark in Hollywood.

Is Anushka Sharma going to be next? Not so soon, it seems.

When asked if she has similar plans, Anushka said: "Everything that I'm going to do as an actress, doesn't matter where it's coming from, has to be interesting. I don't want to go and play a cliched Indian girl."

"The cliches are there so if I do something, it has to be fascinating. What Priyanka and Deepika are doing is amazing. More power to them!"

"They're representing our country in a way and making more opportunities for other people. It's awesome but I am not working towards it," she adds.

Fellow actress Sonam Kapoor shares the same sentiment and had said something similar earlier this year: "I would like to take my projects to the west but I do not want to be the hot Indian girl there; I have worked very hard here to not to be this exotic Indian girl. I've worked very hard to the point where I could get to do a film like Neerja and be taken seriously."

Sharma, who will soon be seen in Sultan, said that sharing screen space with Salman Khan in the movie was intimidating.

"He's not the kind of a person who will go out of the way to make you feel comfortable. I was intimidated to work with him. He's the same with everyone and I really like this quality about him; he's very honest."

Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Aditya Chopra, Sultan is slated for a July release.

All the beautiful actresses of Bollywood, your contributions to Hollywood will not be at par with your contributions to Bollywood.

I have a suggestion for the Bollywood directors. Anushka can really be the ONLY actress to portray the famous pop singer Nazia Hassan in her biopic. This will add further to Bollywood rather than Hollywood.

Rule at your thrones. Bollywood actresses have the high and the heels, skin and the tone. They are far and the sighted and they are the a beauty and they are full.

Whatever the reason Anushka has for not going to Hollywood, women in every society have a pivotal role in the future sustainability of their future generations. Just like scientists, authoritative figures, teachers and mothers, actresses also have characteristically genuine roles to play. They are role models aswell. The whole of Central and Southeast Asia look up to the Indian actresses as they represent the biggest in many ways, a social entertainment Industry.
