We've already been surprised by Alia Bhatt's look for Udta Punjab. What's interesting is that so was she! The 23-year-old actor admits that Pinky is the toughest role she has done.

“I've grown up watching Govinda's films. Hera Pheri was the first film I watched in a theatre. I must have been four at the time. I was into Mowgli and Lion King and English movies in which women ate and sat properly. So it was the biggest challenge ever, to play that character, since I had absolutely no reference point,“ says the Student of the Year star.

“It took lots of discussions with Abhishek (Chaubey, director). He gave me the perspective I didn't have. Then, I made it my own,“ she adds. “I could never react naturally, the way Pinky (her character) does.“

After wrapping up Udta Punjab, Alia already has projects on board, but nothing is happening before her mini vacay! “I have been working way too much but that's the way it is. I am going to take eight days off after Udta Punjab releases because I feel exhausted. There's a voice inside my head that tells me to curb it and I listen to it.“

Alia's next film, directed by Gauri Shinde, has her playing a very distinct character, one of a girl she relates to on many levels. “And working with Shah Rukh Khan was a big deal. I am dying for people to see a glimpse of it. Girls will relate to this film,“ she mentions.

Alia is also wrapping up Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya where she is opposite Varun Dhawan. According to Alia this movie is a new world, new story, new characters, being shot by the Humpty Sharma family. “It's fun! Bichhde hue log waapas aa gaye. Even someone who has not seen the first film will get this one since it's about love, the driving force behind all our lives,“ says she.
