Aishwarya finally makes Cannes 2016 debut, sweeps red carpet with gold cape
She finally appeared on the Cannes red carpet.
Aishwarya marked 15 years of walking the Cannes red carpet in a golden cape dress by Lebanese designer Ali Younes. Encrusted with embellishment, the dress was cinched at the waist with a barely visible metallic belt.
Keeping her accessories to the bare minimum of earring studs, she added a pop of colour with turquoise eye shadow and cascading curls finished off her look.
While many say Aishwarya played it safe, we think the cape dress silhouette was quite the sartorial risk.

Cape dresses may have been fairly popular at the Golden Globes this year, with some going as far as suggesting it as an upcoming trend for future red carpets, but we're not sure if the Ash's draping of the cape and the resultant batwing effect did her any favours.
Cape dresses look better when structured and the sheer fabric of Aishwariya's dress was more suited to a trail than a cape.
Aishwarya will walk the red carpet on two more days, and will also attend a photocall over the course of the next four days.
