While many criticise Bollywood for putting pressure on young girls and women to look a certain way, actor Parineeti Chopra says she's grateful for it.

“Today, many people ask me what triggered the weight loss, did I give in to the “bollywood pressure”? To that I say – thank God I became an actor and had that pressure! I am able to achieve what I couldn’t achieve otherwise. I feel more confident, I feel at peace, and I feel proud,” she wrote in a lengthy Instagram post.

The actress made waves last year when she released a shoot that showed off her brand new svelte figure. She feels she's an inspiration for others wishing to lose weight.

“Girls and women meet me all around the world, at airports, events, on the street; they hold my hand, hug me, and tell me their struggles and how I changed their lives. They show me their wallpapers, their wallets, and it’s all pictures of me!

“They look at those pictures and want to make that change in their own lives. I have seen women tear up and tell me I changed their life. Post delivery weight, teenage obesity, they are fighting it, and I am their inspiration. As an actor, There is no bigger achievement for me,” Parineeti wrote.

The incentive to lose weight is not how you are going to look. Obesity adversely affects health, quality of life, and longevity. The metabolism slows down after age thirty and daily exercise becomes mandatory.

Reducing weight is the test of will and patience and discipline. Gym business is thriving because people think a membership will give them a ripped body forgetting that 50% of any body building program is diet. Avoiding junk food and sweets in any form is another most important thing. Eating 3 hours before going to bed is an effective way to reduce flab. Dinner should be the least while breakfast should be lavish. For those who are in a work that is sedentary - like sitting in front of a computer constantly walking will help a lot. Avoid sitting as much as possible. South Asians eat way too much of carb filled diet than body needs. Most people hate to sweat it out. Eat a lot of veggies along with meat- 70:30 ratio. Lead an active life and see the difference.
