Sonakshi Sinha, presently shooting for Abhinay Deo's Force 2, has signed on to play a Karachi-based journalist in Noor, a film based on Saba Imtiaz's popular novel Karachi, You're Killing Me!

The film will be in production before the year ends and is said to release by 2017, reports BizAsia.

Saba Imtiaz's novel revolves around a female journalist Aisha and her work struggles in the titular city. According to Box Office India, newcomer Sunhil Sippy, known for his work in commercials and photography, will make his directorial debut with this film. The film will be based in Pakistan.

We're excited to see Sonakshi Sinha pulling off the role of a disgruntled Karachiite and portraying the issues of a reporter, especially a female one, as she navigates this bustling city.

If the film is not shot in Karachi it will lose its authenticity ........ surprised that the book is being made into a film because there was really not much in the book.

In any case it seems the beginning of the era when Indian artists can be tempted to work in Pakistan movies. I hope there will be more such ocasions coming , bringing along with them messages of peace.

@Ibrar This is not a Pakistani movie. This is a Bollywood movie based on a book by a Pakistani author.

Firstly, if it's shoy in karachi, there should be a pakistani actress. An Indian can never portray a Pakistani, because they do not carry the national characteristics that comes from within. To be a Pakistani, one must love QAid e Azam intrinsically. That is why many movies flop.

it wont be possible for the director to shoot entire movie in Karachi but i would love to see some outdoor shooting in karachi...If this is also not possible director should do some research and visit Karachi.....I dont want to see women in burqas and men in background wearing shirwanis and jinnah caps with funny beards and that typical "ADAB HE ADAB HE!!!! Break stereotype and come up with something more different and realistic.....

Will they show the bustling modern side of Karachi or find the dirtiest streets to manage the negative image of Pakistan....

@Ibrar No it's not. Bollywood has just took up this novel to make a commercial film out of it. Indian cinema has the talent of what to pick and what not from around the world.
