At the Creative Karachi Festival and in the online space Sabeen loved, people honour her legacy
One year ago today T2F founder and champion of the arts Sabeen Mahmud was killed in a targeted shooting. Being as she was, a larger-than-life figure who had been instrumental in creating a safe space for dialogue in Karachi, her death was unfathomable to her many friends and supporters.
Today, people from all over the city flock to the Creative Karachi Festival that was started by Sabeen in 2014. The festival will no doubt be dominated by tributes to its founder. Social media is not far behind as Sabeen is remembered in numerous ways up and down the country -- in fact, across the globe.
