I'd rather come out with a project than a piece of news, says Mawra Hocane

Amid rumours of superstar pairings ahead, the actress says she's considering roles in both Pakistani and Indian films

Rumours flock to Mawra Hocane like moths to a flame. A few days ago Indian websites claimed the Sanam Teri Kasam star might be dating Indian actor Sooraj Pancholi, and now insiders allege that she's signed a film with Varun Dhawan.

Mawra spoke to Images to try to clear the air.

"I'm currently considering a few projects in India and Pakistan. But I can't comment with any certainty about the details of those projects or the leads," insists Mawra.

"You know, after Sanam Teri Kasam everyone's really interested in my next film, but talking about a project before its finalized doesn't feel right to me. I'd rather come out with a project than a piece of news," she says.

Though her recently released Bollywood debut Sanam Teri Kasam didn't feature a high-profile male lead, Mawra has previously attracted the attention of well-known Indian talent like Ranbir Kapoor, who said she is "extremely beautiful and extremely talented." So a pairing with an actor like Varun Dhawan may not be too far off the mark!

Either way, Mawra remains mum, and prefers to focus on riding Sanam Teri Kasam's success.

"I'm very happy with the way Sanam Teri Kasam turned out," she says. "My performance was hugely critically acclaimed. I don't think any Pakistani has done a role similar to mine in Sanam Teri Kasam, with a dominant lead role, except for Zeba Bakhtiar. So I'm over the moon and looking forward to my next roles."

Something tells us we'll hear more from the actress very soon!

Mowra may be very talented but considering what she and other actoresses from Pakistan are not able to do all the roles Indian girls are happy to do it is unlikely that she Will rise as future supper star. To be honest she will have to work harder to even beat the likes of Mahira or Zeba. I find her sister Irsa to have a greater potential as an actress and hope she would continue her work in Pakistan rather than crossing over only to realise she does not want to do some roles. I think they should self respect and remain in their own country.
