Malala made Sonam Kapoor's day by watching Neerja

The teenaged education activist gave two thumbs-up to Sonam's latest film, Neerja
25 Feb, 2016

Malala stepped out to watch Neerja at a private screening in London yesterday, and no one seemed happier about her attendance than the film's star Sonam Kapoor.

Sonam put up a picture of the Pakistani education activist, who continues her advocacy of children's education despite the 2012 near fatal attack on her in Swat.

"Malala said 'I am stronger than fear' and for #Neerja 'fear gave her courage! Thank you #MalalaYousafzai for attending a private screening of #Neerja in London. I’m so glad you liked the film," Sonam wrote.

The film Neerja is a biopic of flight attendant Neerja Bhanot, who lost her life while saving others on the hijacked Pan Am Flight 73 in September 1986.

This isn't the first time that Malala's been out and about on a film jaunt. She's earlier given two thumbs-up to Piku and Bajrangi Bhaijaan and has also confessed to being a die-hard Shah Rukh fan.

No one should get upset. Let Malala enjoy her life as a young person.

Malala is working towards the noble cause of education for girls and we all respect her for this service. Her courage to stand against the evil is similar to what Neerja did in 1986.

Neerja is a beautiful movie studded with many simple dialogues that linger on in your memories days after watching the movie - such as "Zindagi lambi nahi badi honi chahiye". Watched a good movie after Bajirao Mastani. Will watching it again this Sunday. Don't know why it is banned in Pakistan. In fact it showed Pakistan in good light. Strange! Height of Paranoia.

Shame the movie was banned in Pakistan. Watched it here in US. Probably will be the best movie of the year 2016. A great article by dawn, way before this was made, highlighting Neerja's role in the hijacking by a passenger who was in her teens. www.dawn.com/news/881697/panam-73-terror-on-the-tarmac

Can Pakistani films be released, screened and distributed in India, as per current status? I just want to learn about the present status.

@Khalifa Yes they are. But the theatres are not sufficient to screen all Hollywood/Bollywood and other Indian language films in India. So not too many foreign films screen here.

@Khalifa Khuda ke liye is one and hopefully more like it !! With the amount of regional flicks along with hindi and hollywood flicks, there is not much room left to showcase any more. Regardless, there should always be an avenue for good cinema and with movies like Dev D,Gulaal,Gangs of Wasseypur and in the current crop-Titli, Margarita with a Straw,Ship of Theseus,Masaan certainly attract even the masses.
