I'll retire once I bag the National award, says Shah Rukh Khan

I'll retire once I bag the National award, says Shah Rukh Khan

The actor divulges details about his upcoming flick Fan and how tough it was to play the role of a 24-year-old
31 Dec, 2015

With Dilwale blowing up the box office, the expectations from Shah Rukh Khan's next, Fan, are higher than ever. The actor will be seen in the role of Gaurav, who looks a lot like superstar Aryan Khanna (also played by SRK obviously).

Filming for the Yash Raj project is currently on its extensive post-production and SRK recalls it was tough to transform into a 24-year-old every day with the help of prosthetics that took four hours to apply, stating it was a “very interesting and schizophrenic” experience.

The trailer for the Maneesh Sharma upcoming flick has created quite the buzz and admirers are already talking about SRK bagging all kinds of awards for his performance.

His response?

“I am just waiting for the National award as I have decided to retire after getting one.”

Gasp! Could it be true that the king wants to retire?

King Khan said he was also thrilled that he got the opportunity to play a boy based in Delhi in the film.

“I am very happy I got the opportunity to play a Delhi-based boy; I had forgotten the accent! It was good to recapture that.”

You would think playing Aryan Khanna must have been like second nature to the actor but he shares that the avatar is a much milder version of his public persona: “He's actually very quiet, unlike the flamboyance you see emanating from me like when you see me coming out on my birthday and waving at thousands of people. I don’t do the same in that film."

He adds, "We have never shown the star at shooting. That’s very different. That, itself, is very internalized because that’s how I am at home; very normal and regular.”

Introducing former model Waluscha De Sousa as female lead, Fan is slated to hit cinemas on 15 April next year.

'FAN' can restore the image of SRK which he lost by doing some "Dabba' movies in recent past.

Good make a movie on Bhagat singh, you have full chances to get the award. By jumping around trees like Jitendra you can't get this award.

Hope its one of Swades & Raju BGGM kinda flick, this 100 crore mark has made him do films which he will regret doing once he hangs up his boots. Parallel cinema has lot more to offer, movies like Takwar, manjhi to name a few.

@Singh : Intolerant India is a fact that can't be denied. SRK is a superstar who has earned India a lot of respect. You can't relate his desire for his own country's national award and a characteristic of the country he lives in.

the reason why srk has never won a national award is because the juries have been intolerant to his talent.

actors like salman, srk will never win national award. for that u need to produce quality acting. Saif ali khan won national award in 2005 only because his mother was in the jury panel. otherwise mammotty should have been given the award. Even saif does not deserve the national award that he won..

@Syed - Do you want him? Intolerant India has given him so much, he could not have dreamt of in Peshawar. His guardian angel is dead now, and the movie he made recently was a trash. People felt cheated. Beware of the next one. At this rate, he will go out sooner than he can imagine. No need for the National Award. So, what do you say? Please take him and keep him.

So this means he's never going to retire. Because, National Award needs a real acting and the fake one. And National Award can not be brought by throwing money under the table like many other awards SRK has brought so far.

Since when are any of the bollywood movies worth anything where they deserve an award? Copy cats, over acting, horrible dancing, and if it wasn't for the Pakistani singers,Bollywood wouldn't even have much of music either. Its horrible for Indians to treat these actors with so much disrespect, why? because SRK and Aamir Khan spoke the truth? Aren't these two the same actors Indians worshiped just a year ago?

He reminds me of 20th century politicians who will find some reason or the other not to retire. Also cover the fact that they don't contribute quality products. That is why most of the national award movies are from the regional languages.
