Adnan Sarwar of Shah fame starts working on his second movie
Actor/director Adnan Sarwar, who caught everyone's attention when he made his debut in the sports biopic, Shah this year, has started working on his second feature film.
Shooting for the untitled movie will kick off in March next year and the project is slated for release in October 2016.
Shah, which hit cinemas around the same time as Moor and Dekh Magar Pyaar Say, emerged as the underdog garnering critical acclaim, even though the movie featured a completely unknown cast and crew.
However, Sarwar clarifies that his new movie will have a few big names from the industry attached to it.
"Unlike our first film, where my team and I were virtual unknowns working on a shoestring budget, there are now a lot of expectations with this next project", shared Adnan.
The story of legendary Pakistani boxer Syed Hussain Shah, Shah chronicled the turn of his fortunes as he went from homeless child in the streets of Lyari to the first South Asian winner of an Olympic Bronze Medal in boxing at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He remains the only Pakistani athlete to win an individual medal at the Olympic Games in more than 50 years.
"Of course, Shah will be a tough act to follow content-wise. The only thing I can say at this point is that the second film will, once again, be a completely different kind of story and genre and that it is not a biopic," divulges the multi-talented Sarwar, who was also the writer and music composer for Shah.
He adds: "I have respectfully turned down the standard romantic comedy roles that were offered to me after my first film and I do not wish to do consecutive biopics as an actor. My team and I have a clear vision of what we want to bring to Pakistani cinema and our next film will be another step in that." direction."
