Hadiqa Kiani blasts rumours of drug bust in London

The singer has been named by foreign publications as being arrested in London for trying to smuggle cocaine
15 Feb, 2017

Just two days after Hadiqa Kiani performed at the Mystic Music Festival in Lahore, the pop singer was named in a foreign publication as having been arrested in London for smuggling cocaine.

According to a website called Metro UK, Kiani was arrested at London's Heathrow Airport for trying to smuggle two kilograms of cocaine. The report stated that she was handed over to Port Authority police and was awaiting prosecution by the London District Attorney. The cocaine was reported to be found in two coffee bags hidden in two separate suitcases and its value was reported to be 80,000 pounds.

Hadiqa Kiani, who in fact is in Lahore, has denied the rumours and blasted them as "fake and malicious".

In a Facebook post, she uploaded a photo of her with family in Lahore and expressed her shock at the irresponsibility of news media outlets .

She wrote, "I am not in London nor do I have plans to go to London. And I dare any of you to associate drugs with my name...I am so disgusted right now! Just disgusted by this FAKE NEWS of me spreading online by so called established news medias. Just shocked. #DoYourHomework!"

In an interview with ARY News, Hadiqa said that she initially laughed off the rumours, but was worried when she started receiving "serious phone calls" from journalists and others. She said that she was enjoying her nephew's birthday party and spending Valentine's Day with her family in Lahore today. She conveyed her disappointment that some local publications ran the rumours without verifying it.

"Hadiqa said that she initially laughed off the rumours, but was worried when she started receiving "serious phone calls" from journalists and others." Why would any one laugh and not take it seriously for the first place and by the way, this is an old pic.

The whole news complete with monetary value of the item is disgusting. Even the authorities in London are named making them dubious.
